About Me

does your child need a doctor right now?

Having three kids under the age of six is quite exciting. We never have a dull moment in our house and often have injuries and illnesses that need to be tended to by a doctor. I have learned a lot over the past six years about when a child needs to be seen by a doctor immediately and when certain things can wait until their regular pediatrician is available. I created this blog to help other parents learn about the injuries and illnesses that their children may experience when a doctor isn't available to take a child to whenever these things happen.

Holistic Home And Work Changes During Prostate Treatment

Going through cancer treatments is one of the best ways to survive. Along with the treatment, cancer patients also need to adopt a lifestyle that aids in the removal of cancer and boosting the immune system. Prostate cancer is one of the most prevalent forms of cancer in men in the United States. If you or a loved one is going through cancer treatment, there are changes that can be made at home and at work in order to aid the prostate cancer treatment and overall health of the patient.

Get rid of the creams and grab the kale

An excellent holistic diet will help the immune system of the body. Get rid of the fast food except for extra special occasions. Make sure that the diet is full of deep greens, such as spinach, kale, and broccoli. Purchase these vegetables organic or from a farmer's market that has little chemical intervention. Cruciferous vegetables are known to help the body with cancer, so they should make up the bulk of the family's diet.

Take the right vitamins

Vitamins are an easy thing to take each day, and can boost the body's function. Vitamin D3 supports prostate health and is great for the immune system. Taking D3 vitamins themselves, or a multivitamin that includes D3 should become a regular part of a regimen. When you take the D3 will depend on how your body reacts to vitamins. Going through cancer treatments can make you tired, and vitamins are known to make some people sleepy. Try the vitamins in the day and try them at night to determine which time is best for your daily vitamins.

Make pomegranate juice a favorite

Pomegranate seeds and juice are healing for those who have cancer. Scientists have shown that pomegranate helped to reduce cancer cells in mice, and pomegranates have been used within a holistic approach for those with cancer. If you normally drink sodas and sugar-laden drinks, exchange these for fresh pomegranate juice and pomegranate infused water. This will help to treat the cancer, as well as allow a sweet treat throughout the day.

Sit for lower amounts of time

Men who have desk jobs that necessitate them remaining sedentary have higher prostate cancer risks. If your job is inside of an office, it will be important that you get up, walk around, and get fresh air during your treatment. If possible, attempt to work from home or drop down to part time in order to get the rest that you need during prostate cancer treatment. You can also install a standing desk that will keep you moving about and on your feet during the work day. When you are feeling ill or overwhelmed, make sure you leave the office or have a space to lay down and rest. Following the needs of your body is key to allowing your immune system to heal you.
